Adoption of Deobeel Village by Arunachal University of Studies
In order to contribute in the process of social development and increase equality, expansion, excellence and employability the Arunachal University of Studies has adopted Deobeel Village (I & II) for the purpose of developing it as a model village.
On September 12, 2015 a Meeting was organized by Prof. Vijay Laxmi Pandit, the Hon'ble Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University alongwith Prof. R.K. Pathak (Dean, Faculty of Agriculture & Horticulture), Mr. Ashish Agarwal (Director), Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Dr. Naveen Pandey, Dr. Sheelawati Monlai with Gaon Budas & Aanchal Samiti Member. The villagers expressed their feelings and assure the University Team for full support. The concept of model village was discussed in length with the villagers and they were informed about the merits of model village to be developed in coordination with the village communities.
The advantages of Organic Farming was also discussed and on the request of the villagers, Prof. R.K. Pathak, who had graced various senior position in Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR, New Delhi, India) informed that all kind of support in order to promote Organic Farming will be provided by the University.
It was decided that the University will conduct programmes related to Skill & Entrepreneurship Development, Capacity Building in association with Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of India. Prof. Vijay Laxmi Pandit, Hon'ble Pro-Vice Chancellor expressed that the training programmes related to Khadi and Village Industries Commission may prove pivotal in solving the problem of unemployment in the village.
It was decided to collect base line data from the village through Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) technique by involvement of local community of the village and other functionaries with faculty. Need base interventions will be required from University and other departments.
It is also decided that University faculty should visit officers of line department in NAMSAI to assess possibilities of their involvement in translating the concept of model village.Further it is resolved that the University will take all necessary steps to increase the literacy ratio of Deobeel Village by launching courses as per the need of local population.
